Deputy PM tapped to lead Somalia’s Ruling Party

Mogadishu (SD) – The Ruling Nabad and Nolol Party in Somalia is set to announce its leadership and political plans in the near future, according to sources close to the process.

The party officials have recently reconciled a dispute between the top leadership around who is to be the party’s Presidential nominee on the upcoming 2020 election.

The sources who talked to us on the condition of anonymity confirmed PM Hassan Ali Kheyre accepted Farmajo’s presidential run in 2020, thus guaranteeing the PM’s return.

The source adds that the current Deputy PM Mahdi Mohamed Guled, a constitutional expert will be the ruling party’s Chairperson.

The move upsets former Kulmiye officials in Mogadishu who were vying for the position with help of Hargeisa.

Its not clear whether the speaker of Somalia’s upper house Abdi Hashi Abdullahi will join the Nabad and Nolol Party and what role his role could be.

The Deputy PM position is slated for Fosiya Hajji Aden the former Somalia Foreign minister or Minister Salah Ahmed Jama.

It seems N&N could be the one party that stands a good chance of forming the next government of Somalia, and that is why a lot of current MP’s from the North are rumored to be flocking to join N&N party.
