Hargeisa(SD)-Somaliland President Muse Bihi welcomed the EU Ambassador to Somaliland and Somalia, Amb. Nicolás Berlanga Martinez and his delegation in his office today.

The meeting discussed the strengthening of the working relationship between Somaliland and the European Union, also discussed the EU and Somaliland partnership collaboration on the implementation of development projects, the preparations for the election of representative and local councils in which the ambassador said they are ready to participate in the holding of the Somaliland elections.

Finally, the President of Somaliland accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prof. Yassin Mohamud Hiir (Farah), commended the Ambassador and the European Union for the good relationship between Somaliland and the European Union and its development projects in the country.

The Somaliland government has previously rejected the EU’s donation named Yarisow to Mogadishu and Berbera, due to it’s links to Somalia.

So far the government of Somaliland has not commented on whether or not the Yarisow project, which was approved by the Somalia federal government, will be implemented in Berbera.
