Federal government and Jubaland clash over the need for a new elections

Mogadishu(SD)-Somali government warns against plans to vet parliament and election of Jubaland president, following the election process last night by the Ministry of Interior and Federalism.

Jubbaland Minister of Information Eng Abdi Hussein Sheikh Mohamed said that they view the Ministry of Interior’s statement as an illegal that could be said to be another unfortunate blow to the Somali nation.

The minister added that the government is deliberately circumventing the country’s constitution and laws.

Conflict between the federal government and the Jubbaland regional administration has led the Somali government to ban direct flights to and from Kismayo, which had a negative public reaction.

The news from the government comes when there is a preparation for the inauguration of president Ahmed Mohamed Islam [Ahmed] is underway in Kismayo.
