Mogadishu(SD)-The federal government of Somalia detained Jubaland regional security minister Abdirashid Janan at Mogadishu Airport while traveling from Kismayo to Addis Ababa.

The Somali government has not yet commented on the arrest of the Jubaland Minister of Security, one of the closest cabinet members to President Ahmed Madobe, there have been prior allegations linking him to abuse in Dolow.

Somali police have previously issued arrest warrant against Minister Abdirashid Janan for alleged crimes in Dolow.

The Benadir regional court issued an injunction in April this year canceling a warrant for the abduction of Abdirashid Janan, Since then, the Jubbaland security minister has arrived in Mogadishu on a secret trip without arrest.

The capture of the Jubaland security minister comes at a time when the Somali federal government has ordered flights to and from Kismayo to go through Aden Adde airport in Mogadishu.
