Kismayo(SD)-The first phase of electing the second speaker of the parliament of Jubaland  state contested by two candidates is concluded.

The speaker of Jubaland parliament was contested by Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman and Hussein Shenow Ali and Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman (Sheikh Abdi) was elected.

Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman received 55 votes while Hussein Shenow Ali received 18 votes.

The newly-elected speaker has previously served as chairman of the first Jubbaland parliament, and experts say he is a close ally of President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe).

The election of deputy Speaker of Parliament is underway, these elections will complete the formation of the second parliament of the Jubbaland state today.
