Municipal councillor resigns, starts advocating for Somali unity

Lasanod (SD) – Fahima Yusuf Qunje, a member of Somaliland’s Lasanod municipal council, in Sool region, has resigned.

The councillor announced yesterday that she resigned and announced that she left the seat to work on issues of national unity.

Fahima said she would later play a key role in lobbying for Somali unity, and she has given up on Somaliland independence and her quest for Somaliland recognition.

“I have decided to leave my post and decided to advocate for Somali unity and to always speak for the people and their wishes,” she said.

Fahima has been a member of the Lasanod council for eight years and is the most popular member of the municipality, due to receiving the most votes.
