Owner and his Wife Arrested for Refusing Their Hotel be used for Quarantine Purposes

Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland police have detained the owner of Sky Hotel in Hargeisa and his wife for refusing the government using their Hotel as a quarantine space.

The people to be quarantined at the Sky Hotel, which were rejected by the hotel owner and his wife, were passengers of Ethiopian Airlines flight to Hargeisa.

The order to quarantine these passengers for the next 14 days came from the Somaliland Coronavirus Readiness Commission.

The Commission has not introduced an effective plan for controlling the disease, including facilities to quarantine people coming from abroad.

The government did not acknowledge the arrest, its not know what law they leveraged for the arrest of the owner and his wife.

Ethiopia on Monday enforced a 14-day mandatory quarantine period for all travelers to the country, the country currently has 12 confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Over 343,400 cases and 14,750 deaths have been reported worldwide since last December, while more than 98,890 people have recovered.
