Puntland MP walkout of Senate in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (SD) – Puntland Members of the upper house of parliament  have vacated the upper house of parliament in Mogadishu.

When Asked about their absence, the chairman of the upper house Abdi Hashi, said that there were no reasons submitted by Puntland representatives.

Media reports have confirmed that Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni is behind the move, after he requested the Puntland senators leave the upper house to highlight the conflict between Puntland and the federal government of Somalia.

Puntland senators have been walked out of the upper house in a similar way, after they were angry over the passage of Somalia’s Petroleum Law signed by President Farmajo yesterday.

Puntland Senators have pointed out in flaws in the law and suggested that the discord could lead to further instability in the country.
The Federal and Puntland authorities did not comment on the issues.
