Somali Doctors Volunteer to Help Italy in fight against Covid-19

Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali federal government says it will send Somali doctors to Italy in efforts to help with that country with its Covid-19 epidemic.

Somali government spokesman Ismail Mukhtar Oronjo told the Anadolu Agency today that the doctors are volunteers from the Somali National University.

“Twenty doctors from the National University of Mogadishu have registered with the Italian embassy and will go to that country to help in the fight against Coronavirus,” Ismail said.

He said the doctors would be sent to respond to the Italian government’s request for help, and that they were now ready for transport.

The Italian Community Safety Agency on Thursday confirmed the deaths of another 712 people, bringing the total to 8,215.

Its worth noting that Somalia has confirmed three Covid-19 cases and has no national budget or infrastructure to deal this spread of the virus.
