Hargeisa(SD)-The Somaliland Government has responded to a statement by the President of the Puntland State of Somalia, saying that he wants Somaliland and Somalia talks to be held in Garowe.

“We are not a local admiration, we are a country and a state. The president of the Puntland State is wrong to address us that way, when he is talking about Somalia and Somaliland in order to finalize the draft constitution. We in Somaliland have our own constitution, so when you say Somaliland and Somalia it is a short sited vision.” said Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs Faraton.

“Somalia is not ready for talks, and it does not want to talk to us, to be honest, because Somalia knows that the talks with Somaliland they will loose a lot and we will get a win.” added Minister Farton.

The Somali president recently named a reconciliation committee that Somaliland opposed, thus further stalling the talks between the sides.
