Tukaraq (SD) – Reports from Tukaraq region in Sool indicate renewed fighting in the area between Somaliland and Puntland forces.

Residents confirmed to the media the troops exchanged heavy mortar shells and sometimes heard sporadic gunfire from both sides.

It is not yet known the number of casualties due to the fighting, though the two sides have used heavy weapons that can cause huge loss of life.

The two have been fighting in Sanag in recent weeks, the Tukaraq confrontation is a serous escalation in the never-ending violence.

Officials from both sides have not yet commented in the renewed fighting in Sool.
