Hargeisa (SD) – The government of Somaliland has arrested a foreigner at Hargeisa airport with 300 wild lizards.

Faysal Hiis, the head of the Somaliland Police Investigation Department and the police spokesperson, said at a press conference in Hargeisa that the foreigner had illegally acquired the Lizards.

Faysal said they were investigating the man, and said he would be taken to court, as he illegally hunted the animals in Somaliland.

Hiis hard refused to identify the alleged poacher but said they would prosecute anyone who exported Somaliland’s wildlife illegally.

It is not the first time that Somaliland has arrested foreigners who illegally hunt in Somaliland, though the sheer number of Lizards confiscated today would be the largest of its kind in the country.
