Hargeisa (SD) – The government of Somaliland addressed yesterday’s meeting at Ethiopian Prime Minister’s Office between President Muse Bihi and Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.

The Somaliland Foreign Minister briefing local media said that the meeting was a mere farewell, as the African Union summit ended.

“At the end of the African Union summit, all the leaders attending were saying goodbye and President Farmajo was there. That is how the two leaders met,” said minister Faraton.

The meeting between Muse Bihi and Farmajo is believed to have been pre-planned, set up by the Ethiopian Prime Minister, although it is not known if the meeting will lower tensions between the Federal Government and Somaliland.

Villa Somali, in a brief statement mentioned the meeting had taken place and thanked the Ethiopian prime minister for organizing it and did not provide further details.

The Somaliland government seems desperate in its attempt to downplay the controversial meeting between the two presidents.

President Bihi declared The Somalia leader as an enemy of Somaliland repeatedly prior to the meeting, the Somaliland leader also failed to disclose the meeting when it happened.
