Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland Interior minister says they have recently arrested members of the Al-Shabaab group captured by their forces in the eastern regions.

Somaliland’s Minister of Interior Mohamed Kahin Ahmed said: “In the last two months we have arrested members of the Al-Shabaab. We also have hundreds of terrorist cases in the country’s courts.”

The Minister didn’t give details of the arrests and the cases in front of the courts.

Somaliland have recently been expanding its presence in extremist hide out in eastern Sanag Regions of the country.

Some insiders viewed this as way of asking further funding for the country, s forces, UK had just suspended funding for their Rapid Response Unit.

The minister was speaking to EU ambassadors meeting in Hargeisa today.
