Hargeisa (SD) – At the Somaliland Presidential Palace today, the implementation of JPLG Governance Projects in Hargeisa, Berbera, Borama, Gabiley, Burao and Sayla were signed.

The signing ceremony for the implementation of the Basic Education and Health Services Management Initiative was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Abdirahman Abdullahi Ismail (Saylici), and was signed by the Ministers of Health and Education Development and Science and the mayors of the six cities in charge of Basic Services projects.

The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Abdullahi Ismail (Saylici), gave a brief presentation on the basic social services and its benefits to the community.

The Minister of Interior, Mr. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, on his part said that the government is committed to implementing the project, and will carry out regular monitoring and will do follow ups regularly.

The details of the JPLG is not known, as it was a source of controversy due to the lack of transparency, according to local reporters and the opposition.

According to the reports, the presidents family members were given management roles in the project, therefore will oversee and award the contracts themselves.
