Hargeisa (SD) – Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe, the chairman of the UCID party, who spoke to the BBC today had talked about a violent confrontation between him and the president of Somaliland Muse Bihi.

The Chairman said Somaliland President Muse Bihi had insulted his mother and threw a plastic bottle at the president’s office recently.

In an interview given to the BBC on Thursday, Faisal said: “I kept it secret, but the president fought with me and insulted my mother and he threw a bottle that was in his hand, while at the presidential palace recently, I said release Ramah, he is my secretary of internal affairs and he said he is my brother in law.”

The UCID Chairman was speaking to the BBC after the collapse of the negotiations between Somaliland’s opposition parties and the president over the stalled elections.

The Chairman said elders and the political leaders should confine, as though not to have the country revert back to civil war.

The Somaliland president has not commented on the alleged assault on the opposition leader.
