Mogadishu (SD) – United Nations Special Representative to Somalia, James Swan, welcomes the new Somali electoral law, which has recently been adopted by the Somali parliament.

James Swan made this statement during a meeting with House Speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi.

They discussed issues such as electoral law, which is now in the House of Commons.

The UN envoy described the bill as a historic step towards peacebuilding, and urged the passage of time to coincide with the 2020 election.

Yesterday, the upper house appointed a special committee to advice on electoral law.
