UK Ambassador: FGS and FMS leaders is vital

Mogadishu (SD) -UK Ambassador to Somalia Ben Fender wrote on his Twitter account that talks between the Somali federal government and member states are essential.

The ambassador’s post was a response to Puntland president’s announcement to visit the Somali capital.

The ambassador also said that if the parties reach an agreement It will be an opportunity for Somalia to focus on other challenges.

“Greater dialogue between FGS and FMS leaders is vital to make the most of debt relief, deliver timely national direct elections in line with the new law, and tackle coronavirus.   I welcome these apparent steps forward and hope that those concerned can agree to meet very soon.” Wrote the UK ambassador.

The ambassador’s post follows the United Nations Office for Somalia welcoming the Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni’s reported visit to Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

The Somali federal Government also welcomed Deni’s decision to finally come Mogadishu, its an opportunity for both the federal and state leaders to discuss issues.
