TAIPEI (SD) – The President of Taiwan, Lai Ching-te, praised the new agreement signed in Taipei between the governments of Somaliland and Taiwan, stating that the deal enhances maritime relations between the two countries.
The President of Taiwan made this statement during remarks to the country’s national media when he received the delegation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somaliland.
He stated that the cooperation agreement on coastal security signed by the two nations marks a new chapter in their bilateral relations.
President Lai Ching-te said that authoritarian governments continue to use coercive tactics and pressure campaigns aimed at obstructing the international participation of Taiwan and Somaliland.
He emphasized that the strengthening of cooperation between Somaliland and Taiwan reflects the resilience of democratic alliances.
