MOGADISHU (SD) – Signing of the Status of Forces Agreement (SoFA) between the Republic of Djibouti and the Federal Republic of Somalia
In a move to strengthen the longstanding brotherly relations between the Republic of Djibouti and the Federal Republic of Somalia, a Status of Forces Agreement (SoFA) concerning Djiboutian troops in Somalia was signed today in Djibouti City.
The agreement was signed by Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, and Djibouti’s Acting Minister of Defense, Mr. Ali Hassan Bahdon, with high-ranking officials from both countries in attendance.
This agreement governs the increase in the number of Djiboutian troops participating in operations within Somalia, by previously agreed principles and priorities. It also defines the terms of engagement, responsibilities of both parties, and mechanisms for military cooperation, all based on mutual understanding and respect.
This cooperation demonstrates Djibouti’s firm commitment to supporting peace and security in Somalia, and reflects the shared vision both countries hold for regional stability.
The signing ceremony took place in an atmosphere of brotherhood and trust, once again highlighting the strength and depth of the historic relationship between these two brotherly nations.
