MOGADISHO (SD) – The Federal Government of Somalia has issued a stern condemnation following today’s violent clashes in Balad Hawo, Gedo region, involving forces aligned with the Federal Government and the Jubaland administration.
In an official statement released by the Federal Ministry of Internal Security, Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe) was directly accused of orchestrating attacks on government facilities and military bases in Balad Hawo.
“The Ministry of Internal Security strongly condemns the criminal actions attributed to Ahmed Mohamed Islam in Beled Hawo… where militias under his command launched indiscriminate attacks on public service centers and national security force positions,” the statement read.
According to the release, the assaults targeted critical installations including the Immigration and Citizenship Agency offices, as well as military posts housing Federal security forces. The government noted the attacks occurred during daytime hours when civilians were engaged in daily activities, describing Jubbaland’s actions as demonstrating “reckless irresponsibility.”
The Federal Government extended condolences to civilians affected by the fighting while vowing to bring to justice all parties involved in what it termed “premeditated hostile acts.”
“A strong warning is being issued to the militias being misused by the accused, Ahmed Madobe. All participants in these crimes must understand they will face legal consequences,” the statement concluded.
This development follows Jubbaland’s earlier claim of having regained control of Balad Hawo after clashes this morning, highlighting the escalating political and military tensions between the two sides.
The Federal Government has called for immediate de-escalation and reiterated its commitment to maintaining constitutional order while protecting civilian lives.
