Somali Federal Government Takes Crucial Step to Resolve Clan Conflict in Lower Shabelle

MOGADISHU (SD) – The Federal Government of Somalia has taken an important step towards resolving the conflict and confrontations between brotherly clans who have been fighting in the Wanla-weyn area of the Lower Shabelle region.

The Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali (Ali Hoosh), has initiated crucial meetings in Mogadishu aimed at ending the inter-clan warfare and tribal disputes that have resulted in loss of life and property damage.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry, Ms. Saada Aliow, and the Director-General of the Ministry, Mr. Aidarus Moalim Hassan. The Minister held consultations with traditional elders, politicians, and notables from local clans, who have been engaged in conflict in recent days.

During the meeting, Minister Ali Hoosh addressed both sides on the importance of ending the conflict and building confidence, peace, and sustainable reconciliation. He emphasized that the losses and damages incurred are deeply regrettable and cannot lead to a solution that brings unity and progress.

“Both the Islamic Religion and Somali culture place great value on protecting life, property, and human dignity. It is our duty to promote peace, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence,” stated the Minister of Internal Affairs, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali Hoosh.

The Minister called upon the traditional elders, politicians, and the entire community of the region to actively participate in the peace efforts, noting that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is determined to take a leading role in achieving lasting peace and reconciliation among the brotherly clans in the Lower Shabelle region.
