Mogadishu Jan 01, 2023 (SD) – Local and federal government forces have today taken control of the Masagaway region under Elbur district in Galgaduud region.

Military officials confirmed they have taken over the area after the Al Shabaab group left the major stronghold.

The government and local forces that took control of Masagaway today have recently driven Al Shabaab out of the entire Middle Shabelle region.

On the other hand, Somali government media reported that there was a fight among Al Shabaab fighters in Harardhere district of Mudug region.

The fighting was said to have been between fighters who allegedly disobeyed orders and fled from Harardhere and other fighters who opposed them.

The reporting indicated that about 10 fighters from both sides were killed in the battle among the Al Shabaab fighters.
