HARGEISA (SD) – The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), welcomed a high-level delegation from the Supreme Council for Arab-African Economic Cooperation at the Presidential Palace. The delegation, led by Council President Dr. Hani Hassan Abu Zayid, consisted of nine members and arrived in Somaliland for an official visit.
The Supreme Council for Arab-African Economic Cooperation is an international organization comprising major investors, business leaders, and financial institutions from various Arab and African countries. Founded in France and registered with the UN, the Council is headquartered in Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, both sides discussed important issues, including Investment opportunities in Somaliland, expanding trade and economic growth, and strengthening regional cooperation.
Somaliland’s Minister of Investment & Industrial Development, Mr. Said Mohamed Buraale (who hosted the delegation yesterday), outlined the purpose of the visit, exploring investment and business opportunities in Somaliland, meeting with key government agencies responsible for natural resources, including minerals, livestock, fisheries, and agriculture, and establishing a branch office of the Arab-African Economic Council in Somaliland.
President Irro thanked the delegation for their visit and briefed them on Somaliland’s strategic development plans, the country’s security and stability, its functioning of democratic governance, Potential collaboration areas, particularly in natural resources, infrastructure, energy, and trade.
The delegation praised Somaliland’s progress and expressed readiness to enhance cooperation in investment, trade, and development. They also showed interest in jointly leveraging Somaliland’s economic opportunities.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with an agreement for the Supreme Council to conduct further visits and engage with relevant Somaliland government institutions on areas of mutual interest.
