Trump Announces Decision Targeting Somali Refugees in Minnesota

WASHINGTON, D.C. (SD) – U.S. President Donald Trump stated last night that he would swiftly terminate the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Somali refugees residing in Minnesota.

“A group of Somalis are terrorizing the people of this great state, and tragedies are happening that shouldn’t be,” Trump declared in a post on his Truth Social platform.

TPS provides temporary legal status to nationals of designated countries who are affected by ongoing conflicts, natural disasters, or other extraordinary conditions.

The program has allowed many Somalis to live and work legally in the United States due to unsafe conditions in their home country.

The announcement could impact a significant number of Somalis currently residing in the United States under TPS, a humanitarian program that provides temporary lawful status to nationals of countries facing ongoing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or other extraordinary conditions.
