Somaliland House of Representatives: Prosecutor falsified allegations against Oldon

Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland’s House of Representatives issued a statement denying a lawsuit filled on their behave against Abdimalik Muse Oldon, jailed in Somaliland.

The statement from the Somaliland House of Representatives refutes a statement from the Somaliland Prosecutor’s Office that they accused journalist Abdimalik Oldon of defamation.

“The House declares that it is not a party to the allegations against the detainee, nor is it a victim as per the law.” said a released statement.

The Somaliland House of Representatives also said in their statement that they are an institution that has its own legal system in accordance with the Somaliland constitution, not in need of the prosecutor’s assistance.

Also, some lawmakers, who held a presser today, said the prosecution would be asked, who lied to the council and filed the lawsuit.

“The council is a legal entity. The person who filed the false lawsuit should be questioned and the House will summon him. I say Abdimalik Muse Oldon’s statement did not contradict the government yet,” said lawmaker Mohamed Abib.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Abdimalik Muse Coldon is facing other charges from Abaarso and Barwaaqo schools, parents, and subversion, he has been in Mandhera prison for months, after he said Christianity has being spread in the schools.
