NY (SD) – The UN Security Council has issued a statement condemning the Al-Shabaab attack on an ATMIS base in El Baraf, Middle Shabelle region.

A statement issued by the members of the UN Security Council extended their condolences to the government and people of Burundi, and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

UN Security Council members express full support for the efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia and ATMIS to counter the Al Shabaab threat.

Members of the Security Council underscored the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and financiers of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice.

Security Council members reiterated their respect for Somalia’s political, territorial integrity and unity.
