Somaliland President Receives Warm Welcome Following Historic Visit to Israel

HARGEISA (SD)– President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi returned to Hargeisa today following his historic official visit to Israel, where he was welcomed by large crowds of supporters in the Somaliland capital.

Speaking upon his arrival, President Irro described the visit as a significant milestone for the Republic of Somaliland, saying it had strengthened the country’s efforts to expand its international partnerships, advance its quest for international recognition, and promote Somaliland’s national interests abroad.

The president said his meetings with Israeli leaders demonstrated a shared commitment to building closer cooperation across a range of sectors.

According to President Irro, discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in economic development, security, agriculture, water management, investment, technology, infrastructure, and institutional capacity-building, with the aim of creating long-term opportunities that benefit both Somaliland and Israel.

The visit, which included meetings with senior Israeli officials, was presented by Somaliland authorities as an important step in broadening the country’s diplomatic engagement and international profile.

President Irro is also expected to address the nation later today from the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa during celebrations marking the 66th anniversary of Somaliland’s Independence Day.

President Irro’s return marks the conclusion of one of Somaliland’s most significant diplomatic visits in recent years. Somaliland officials view the trip as a major step toward expanding international partnerships and strengthening the territory’s campaign for wider international recognition.
