Lasanod (SD) – A conflict resolution conference for Sool Sanaag communities sponsored by IGAD opened today in Lasanod, the regional capital of Sool.

Sool Governor Abdiqani Mohamud Jiidhe and Lasanod Mayor Abdiaziz Hussein Taarwale jointly opened the conference, welcoming it and calling it necessary.

Officials said the purpose of the conference was to strengthen security and expand development in Sool and Sanaag regions. and reduce repeated conflicts in the area.

Delegates from Sanaag region and traditional elders from Sool region attended the conference.

IGAD officials thanked the Sool regional administration and members of the community for attending the conference, adding that the meeting was about how to prevent conflict and to establish peace.
