Mogadishu (SD) – US Ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto held a meeting at Mogadishu Airport with the Presidents of Puntland and Jubaland, Said Abdullahi Deni and Ahmed Mohamed Islam, as they landed at Mogadishu Airport.
US Ambassador Donald Yamamoto reportedly convinced President Farmajo to meet with Puntland and Jubaland leaders and is said to be a guarantor of any agreement reached between the two sides on the contested 2020/2021 elections.
Jubaland authorities on a released statement said that the leaders in the meeting discussed issues relating to the disputed 2020/2021 elections and that It was agreed to work together to ensure that timely elections are held in the country.
Deni and Ahmed Madobe also met with other representatives of the international community, including UK Ambassador to Somalia Ben Fender.
Presidents Said Deni and Ahmed Madobe are believed to have shared their objections to the Dhusamareb Electoral Agreement signed by President Farmajo and Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Northwest officials along with the Governor of Benadir region with the US Ambassador and other members of the international community regarding.
The leaders of the country are expected to hold a joint meeting in the next few days in Mogadishu to discuss how to hold a credible election in the country.
