Mogadishu (SD) – The federal government of Somalia has officially started the implementation of a recent preliminary demand from Jubaland president Ahmed Madobe in Mogadishu.

Ahmed Madobe’s demands included the removal of government troops to Gedo region, and as a result, the central government summoned regional and district officials in the region, Jubaland forces were recently expelled from several districts in Gedo region by federal troops.

This came after Ahmed Madobe was strongly supported the plan by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, leading to the conference being postponed.

The federal government has also agreed to include Hirshabelle, Galmudug and Southwest administrations in the Mogadishu conference, another demand by Ahmed Madobe and Said Deni.

Implementation of these preliminary Agreements could lead to a positive dialogue between the country’s political stakeholders, and achieving a lasting solution to the electoral dispute in the country
