Prime Minister appoints Northern Electoral Commission, upper house speaker’s nominees not included

Mogadishu (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has tonight appointed a committee to oversee the election of members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia from the Northern regions.

The committee is made up of 11 members from the Northern regions, and is mostly made up of youth, some of whom work in the Federal Government Ministries.

Reports say the members were brought in by the Deputy Prime Minister and some ministers, the Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi’s nominees were not included in the announced committee.

The members nominated by Prime Minister Roble are: –

1 – Khadar Harir Hussein
2 – Sundus Ibrahim Ali
3 – Ahmed Dahir Hassan
4 – Mohamed Abdullahi Jirde
5 – Abdirahman Osman Adan
6 – Zamzam Mohamed Farah
7 – Najib Hussein Samale
8 – Khadar Abdalle Adan
9 – Zeinab Ismail Hassan
10 – Ifrah Omar Duale
11 – Umayma Abdullahi Isse Good

In a statement, Prime Minister Roble said the appointment was made in consultation with politicians from the northern regions.
