Gendershe (SD) – Al-Shabab militants have carried out a suicide attack on a government base in Gendershe, Lower Shabelle region.

Al-Shabaab-affiliated websites reported that a car bomb had exploded at an American and Alpha Group base in Gendershe.

“Five soldiers, including an American soldier, were killed in the attack. The Mujahedeen targeted Gendershe and four members of the Alpha Group militia,” the Al Shabab statement said.

Al-Shabaab also said the attack wounded three Somali soldiers and an American soldier.

There was no immediate response from the Somali government or the United States about Al-Shabab’s claimed attack on Gendershe.
