Addis Ababa (SD) – The Ethiopian government is reportedly stopping its Berbera port investment, according to a report in the capital newspaper.
“Ethiopia contributes 19% to the development of the Berbera port, but it was reported this week that the project had been completely canceled by Addis Ababa.” the newspaper said.
So far, the Ethiopian government has not commented on the Berbera port, but Minister of Transport Dagmawit Moges has detailed their plans for the Port of Sudan.
Somaliland Foreign Minister Faraton denied Ethiopia’s 19% investment withdrawal of Berbera Port.
Also, Minister Faraton, who spoke to Bulsho TV, dismissed reports that the United Arab Emirates had abandoned its military base in Berbera.
The report comes after Somaliland recently rejected Ethiopian proposal to have President Farmajo visit Somaliland with PM Abiy Ahmed.
