Garissa(SD)-A dispute broke out between council representatives in Garissa County, Kenya’s northeastern province.
The clashes came after members of the council met in Nairobi last week with opposition leader Raila Odinga, according to the press.
The meeting was opposed by Garissa councilor Aden Barre Duale who pointed out that elected officials asking for support from an opposition is a disgrace to the electorate.
The Garissa City Councilors were said to be angry that Duale’s speech was inappropriate.
Security forces at the scene refused to let the media go inside to cover the discussions.
However, this has led to the Garissa’s lower house being split into two parties, until Garissa’s parliamentary speaker, Mr Ahmed Abbas, closed the session.
