Baidoa(SD)-Reports indicate that heavy fighting broke out this morning at Daynunay village, about 30km from Baidoa, where there is a military base in Somalia.

The fighting erupted after Al-Shabaab launched several attacks in the area, as the two sides engaged in a long-running battle over various weapons.

Witnesses said Al-Shabaab briefly took control of the area, while other reports say that the region is back in the control of the government.

Daynunay is a key security area for Baidoa, and the country’s armed forces are based.
