Kenyan police thwart al-Shabaab attack in Mandera

Mandera(SD)-One resident was injured in a brief clashes between Kenyan police and Al-Shabaab militia today in Mandera, the injured is currently been treated at El-Wak District Hospital in Somalia.

Kenyan police spokesman Charles Owino said today that their forces has pushed back an armed group that crossed the Somali border, seeking to cause violence inside Kenya.

Police said the gunmen were planning to carry out the attack on July 22, this year, but it was delayed, following good cooperation between residents and security officials.

He called on the public to continue working with police officers, to increase security, and urged Kenyans to be vigilant and report any suspects.
