Somali Government dismisses the of Abdirahman Abdishakur’s terror allegations

Mogadishu (SD) -The Somali government addressed the controversial issue of Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame and his allegations against the Federal government Somalia.

The Minister of Information of Somalia Mohamed Abdi Hayir who spoke to the BBC Somali Service defended the Government against accusations alleged by Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, who said the government organized some clerics who threatened to kill him.

“I say to my friend, you spoke about religious matters, the government did not tell to you to speak about religion, lots clerics are taking you to task, the issue is not that the government or and individual is against you, it’s a serious religious matter” said Minter Hayir.

The minister added that the only thing Abdirahman Abdishakur has to do is to repent, in front of the Clerics and the Somali public.

When asked about Abdirahman Abdishakur’s accusation that the government gave Hassan Dahir Aweys a chance to record a video threatening his death, the minster replied “that is false, Hassan Dahir Aweys is in house arrest, he has the right to a cell phone, so he used that phone because he felt that his religion was under attack,” Mohamed Abdi Hayir said.

He added that there is no link between the Government of Somalia and the terrorist groups, and instead the government spends most of its resources on fighting these groups.
