Mogadishu(SD)-Somali police chief for the first time addresses the arrest of Jubbaland security minister, Abdirashid Hassan Nur (Janan).

Deputy police chief for Somalia Jen Sakiya Hussein said Janan had been arrested by the police, accusing them of serious crimes.

“The Somali Police Force yesterday arrested the suspect, Abdirashid Hassan Nur ‘Janan’ as he faces charges of serious crimes, he is charged with a felony, a case that is currently being investigated by the police, ”Jen Sakiya said in a statement on Twitter.

Jubaland regional security committee discussed  in an emergency meeting the arrest of Jubaland Minister of Security Abdirashid Hassan Abdinur on Wednesday in the city of Kismayo.

The Somali state criticized the arrest and voiced concerns with the minister’s health and legal rights.

Jubaland pointed out how this move could be a wedge between the Somali people.

The confirmation of the arrest Minister Janan of Jubaland by Somali Police elevates the tension between the Local and the federal governments.
