Hargeisa (SD) – The Somaliland Government has today issued a statement regarding the financing of a militia group against Somaliland in Buhodle.

Somaliland’s Public Works Minister, Abdirashid Qambi, told local media that the oil company HASS is sponsoring the insurgents.

Minister Qambi linked the company to the SSC rebels, which is strongly opposed to Somaliland, but failed to provide any evidence.

The Minister also leveled similar accusations of financing the insurgents with other un-named individuals, but said they were businessmen.

Hass management has in the strongest terms distributed and rebuffed the allegations leveled against them, and in retuned accused the minister of demanding bribes.

Hass is one of the largest oil companies in Somaliland.
