Hargeisa (SD) – Abdikadir Jirde, a member of the Somaliland House of Representatives, has talked about the never dying Ethiopian government’s interest of the Somaliland’s coast, highlighting that its a long-standing tradition that has been inherited from previous Ethiopian governments.
“The government of Ethiopia is a neighbor of ours, a state that has a long-standing agenda in the region, such aspirations do not die and every new Ethiopian government has the same goals” said Abdikadir Jirde.
Mr. Jirde, speaking at the Somaliland House of Representatives recently, emphasized the way greater Somalia ambitions are not dead, so are the great ambitions of the Ethiopian government in the Horn of Africa.
“The issue that Ethiopia wants on our coastlines is no secret, we have not lost our ambitions of greater Somalia either, we hope all Somalis will one day get together” continued the MP
MP Jirde blamed the current political situation among Somalis are the only obstacle preventing for all Somalis to come together as one.
Mr. Abdikadir Jirde continued, saying that the plans of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abey Ahmed should not be taken lightly, and our international experts need to study the issue and develop viable plans.
The MP’s comment come at a time when the Ethiopian PM’s is flexing his political muscle in the Horn of Africa, he recently attempted to pressure Somali leaders to reconcile a 30-year feud in few weeks.
