The Somali Government is pleased with the decision of the ICJ to postpone the Maritime trial

Brussels(SD)-The International Criminal Court (ICJ), which is handling the maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya, has finally decided to postpone the second phase of the two-party dispute.

“We initially demanded that the hearing be held but we are satisfied with the Court’s decision to postpone the hearing.” said the Somali Ambassador to the EU Ali Said Faqi.

Two months is not long, Kenya of course can be prepared, they initially applied for 12 months delay, but now the court has decided to postpone the hearing for two months only. ” continued the ambassador.

It is unclear how the Kenyan government will respond to the ICJ’s decision as it was initially requested for 12 months to prepare.

Kenya and Somalia have been disputing over Maritimes border over resource rich region.
