Mogadishu(SD)- The chairman of the Somalia’s Supreme Court of the Armed Forces Liban Ali Yaroow has made a serious accusation against Somali officials of the government, who hide members of al-Shabaab in their homes.
Chairman Yarow said that in the recent past, there have been a number of al-Shabaab members who surrender to government officials, many of whom have gone through the proper registration process.
But he said there are many other al-Shabaab defectors who go straight to the homes of officials and not be reported to security agencies.
“Whether it is a parliamentarian, a military officer, or a government member, it is unacceptable that a member of the al-Shabaab group has escaped and are at their homes. Whoever is found will be branded as Al-Shabaab by the court,” said Liban Ali Yarow.
It is the first time the military court directly accused government forces and government officials to help members of al-Shabab in the areas controlled by the government.
Chairman Yarow said that in the recent past, there have been a number of al-Shabaab members who surrender to government officials, many of whom have gone through the proper registration process.
