Why do Somaliland leaders remain silent on Press. Guelleh’s attacks

Hargeisa(SD)-The leaders of Somaliland have for some time seemed unable to respond to Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh, who has declared war on Somaliland.

Djibouti’s President since the his creation of the Arta government has been working diligently to undermined Somaliland’s development and independence.

When Somaliland leaders are invited to Djibouti, Press. Guelleh always makes a point in dismissing the national symbols of Somaliland.

Also, when the President of Somaliland recently arrived in Djibouti, he was presented with maps that deny the existence of Somaliland.

President Bihi shown Somalia map which includes Somaliland in Djibouti

UCID party chairman Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe, has recently declared that Djibouti’s President is the enemy of Somaliland, and has ruled out that the country will host talks between Somalia and Somaliland.

Both Somaliland government and the other opposition party Wadani remained silent when the Djibouti representative in Hargeisa tried to defame the chairman.

Somalilanders everywhere and of all political stripes defended and echoed the chairman’s comments. and so it refreshing to hear.

After that, Djibouti’s President visited Guinea last week to convince President Alpha Conde to respect Somali unity.

The Kulmiye governments do not seem to be able to respond to Ismael Omar Guelleh’s anti Somaliland actions, ever wondered why?

Djibouti’s president intervened in Somaliland’s recent elections by assisting the country’s three party candidates in what they foolishly wanted.

He worked with Kulmiye party to have an unopposed candidate, fatted candidates, who ran for the presidency and help pick Muse Bihi.

And with UCID, worked to keep Jamal Ali Hussein out of the running for president, as to not not hinder Kulmiye candidate and alliance.

He also supported the Wadani party, which he thought, if they win you would have to work with them, especially when the Djibouti president thought Kulmiye may not survive the internal divisions.

Also Djibouti’s largest power in Somaliland politics lays in the country’s largest businessmen, who are based in Djibouti and are compelled to fulfill the orders of the president.

Somaliland President Muse Bihi therefore can’t respond or criticize the Djibouti president’s political attacks, fearing that Djibouti would support the opposition through Djibouti’s major influence through the businesses community.

The Wadani presidential candidate,  Abdirahman Irro is pleased with the little support from Djibouti, and is hopping that in the near future Djibouti and Kulmiye will fall out.

As long as Somaliland businesses are based in Djibouti and using the Bank of Djibouti, Somaliland politicians will remain under the corrupt Djibouti influence.

The people of Somaliland have a choice to make, between the business interests and the interests of the Somaliland nation and it’s people.
