Kismayo (SD) – Jubaland Minister of Interior and chairman of the administration’s Covid-19 Disease Prevention Committee, Mr. Mohamed Warsame Darwish, said that Jubaland did not received the millions of dollars the federal government allocated to the regional administrations.
Darwish, who spoke to the media in the coastal city of Kismayo, said the funds to fight against Coronavirus was not transferred to their account.
He also pointed out that as an administration they do not have the resources to deal with the prevention and control of the Coronavirus.
Jubaland’s Interior Minister warned against politicising the fight against the Virus, which is causing a profound fear in the country.
The statement comes amid growing political tensions between the leaders of the Somali federal government and the Jubaland regional government.
The Somali Federal Government severed its ties to Jubaland after the re-election of current President Ahmed Madobe on August 2019, siting irregularities in the process.
