Hargeisa (SD) – Chairman of the Somaliland opposition party UCID Eng. Faisal li Warabe, has congratulated Somalilanders everywhere on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of Somaliland’s Independence.

The Chairman sent his condolences to recently departed heroes of the country. “First of all I ask Allah for his mercy for those of us who are not celebrating with us today, but have shown a great deal of responsibility for this nation, whether it is the liberation, whether it is peace among the clans or for contributing to the nation that we celebrating its independence today.”

In a press release tonight, the chairman congratulated Somalilanders everywhere on the 29th anniversary of Somaliland’s independence.

“Congratulations to the people of Somaliland in the country or abroad, May you enjoy good Eid and may Allah grant us victory and recognition.” Said the Chairman in a statement.

The UCID Chairman addressed the existing shortcomings and divisions within the public and the concerns of the government of leader Muse Bihi.

“I would like to urge all Somalilanders that the best way to contribute to the legitimacy of the Somaliland state, is they criticize the system but not the Nation, and be part of the solution.” Said Faisal Ali Warabe.

The UCID Chairman Faisal Ali Warabe also sent a message to Somalia and talked about the failed unity aspirations of the past.

“And to our brothers and sisters in Somalia, I would like to say, we brought the unity and wanted to establish greater Somalia, that dream has failed, it was rejected by the world who was not ready for greater Somalia, it also failed by the injustice and misery that is caused by our union. I conclude my message that we should not waste any more time and trust the advice and decisions of the people of Somaliland, that is the brotherly way.” Said the chairman.”

The UCID Chairman Faisal Ali Warabe also sent a message to the International community, and highlighted the individual responsibilities of Somalilanders.

“Somaliland will one time join the international community but I urge every Somaliland citizen to fulfill their obligations, be they official or civilian, be they a student or a teacher, be it a diaspora or at home, young and old, men and women. Patriotism is not for those in power only, its for all of us to recognize and fulfill our personal, family and national obligations.” said the UCID Chairman.
