Mogadishu (SD) – A 10-year-old girl who was away from her family for two days has been found dead in the Kawo Godey neighborhood of Dharkenley district in Benadir region.

The girl, identified as Nafisa Omar Abdullahi, was found at her family’s home on Saturday with her body hidden in large pans.

A relative of the decease girl told the media that they were shocked to find her severely tortured and found her body in the house where she lived.

Dharkenley District Commissioner Guhaad Sheikh Hassan who spoke to the media at the scene said the incident was so disturbing and authorities were notified.

CID officers arrived at the house where the girl’s body was found and arrested her father and are investigating the murder.

The incident shocked the Kawo Godey neighborhood where the incident took place, wondering who committed the heinous crime.

In recent times, there has been an increase in the number of horrific killings of young girls in Somalia, and some of these killings have been preceded by acts of rape, although there is no confirmation whether Nafisa Omar Abdullahi was raped before she was killed.
