Mogadishu (SD) – Galmudug state president Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoor-Qoor who arrived in Mogadishu yesterday paid a courtesy visit to former Somali presidents Sheikh Sharif and Hassan Sheikh.

After the visit, the President of Galmudug held separate meetings with the two Presidents and discussed the political situation in the country, especially the recent violence in Mogadishu.

Sources close to the two leaders said they discussed the attack on the hotel where the two presidents were staying and the deadly attack on the candidates.

The president of Galmudug reportedly expressed to presidents Sheikh Sharif and Hassan Sheikh his disappointment for what happened and said that he will talk to Somali government officials especially Farmajo and Roble.

The president of Hirshabelle region Ali Gudlawe Hussein also visited former president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud yesterday at his residence in Mogadishu.

On the other hand, the leader of the Wadajir party and a candidate for the presidency of Somalia Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame said that it is inappropriate for the former leaders of the country to meet with the leaders of Galmudug and Hir Shabelle.

Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame added that it was not appropriate to meet with Ali Gudlawe and Ahmed Qoor-Qoor without clarifying their position on the government’s attack on presidential candidates.
