Lamu (SD) – Al-Shabaab militants today attacked a Kenyan military base in Kenya’s Lamu County, sparking heavy fighting.
The attacked military base is in May-gaay area of Lamu County, reports indicate that there was two hour long clashes between Kenyan forces and members of al-Shabaab.
May-Gaay residents are said to be effected by the fighting, with some neighborhoods being hit by gunfire.
The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) in Lamu County has not yet commented on the casualties in the clashes between Kenyan forces and Al-Shabaab, apart from the impact on the community in May-gaay area of Lamu County.
The attack in May-gaay, Lamu County, comes a day after al-Shabaab militants attacked a Kenyan military base in Wajir County.
Al-Shabaab militants based in Somalia have also carried out attacks inside Kenya in response to Kenyan military incursions into Somalia.
