Al-Shabaab claims killing the former Hiran governor

MOGADISHU (SD) – Al-Shabaab addressed the assassination of former Hiran governor Abdirahman Ibrahim Maow, killed in Mogadishu last night, as he was leaving a mosque after evening prayers.

Witnesses reported that Abdirahman Ibrahim was shot dead by young men armed with pistols, who later fled the scene.

In an statement released, Al Shabab claimed responsibility for the assassination of former Hiran Governor Abdirahman Ibrahim Maow in Mogadishu.

Abdirahman Ibrahim Maow was a candidate for the 11th Parliament of the country and has officially announced his candidacy for the HOP 58 seat.

The former governor of Hiran in Hirshabelle region has recently been living in Wadajir district in Banadir region.

Mogadishu has seen an increase in insecurity in recent days, with explosions taking place in the capital causing various casualties.
